These remarkable botanical illustrations originate from the first edition ofSertum Botanicum by Belgian botanistPierre Corneille Van Geel, published in Brussels between1828 and 1833.
Drawn byG. Severeyns and printed as hand-colored lithographs byde Burggraaff, the publication celebrated ornamental flowering plants that were newly introduced into European cultivation during the early nineteenth century.
Each illustration in this collection has been carefully restored from original plates in my personal collection while preserving the artistry, color, and character that make antique botanical illustrations so enduringly beautiful.
Additional historical information about the publication and these illustrations is included in the accompanyingCurator's Notes PDF.
Atelier Editions™ is dedicated to preserving exceptional historic artwork for modern creative professionals.
Each collection begins with carefully selected original artwork from my personal archive. Every illustration is individually restored by hand—not generated with AI—to preserve the beauty and authenticity of the original while meeting the technical standards required by today's designers.
Rather than simply reproducing antique artwork, Atelier Editions creates thoughtfully restored, production-ready collections that allow artists, makers, designers, and creative entrepreneurs to incorporate extraordinary historical illustrations into contemporary work with ease.
Thank you for supporting the preservation of these remarkable works and for giving them new life through your own creativity.
